Body
Basics for Golf was developed by Brandon Goldbeck, Physical Therapist
and owner of Cedarburg Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine. It was designed
to fill the needs of many golfers who have frustrations with injuries
and physical limitations that have affected their ability to play golf.
Body
Basics for Golf is a comprehensive system for re-tooling a golfer's
most important piece of equipment: THEIR BODY. The human body is the
most overlooked part of a golfer's arsenal of equipment. This program
is extremely individualized and very comprehensive.
It is designed to work in conjunction with or without lessons (we highly recommend
that you take lessons to learn the technical aspects of the golf swing). The
program will incorporate all aspects of physical fitness and physical health
for golfers.
You
will receive one-on-one work with a licensed Physical Therapist. Body
Basics for Golf can also be adapted to your skill level and your goals
as a golfer. Your treatments and training will be based on a comprehensive
evaluation of your entire body.
The
benefits of physical fitness are well documented for a healthy lifestyle.
Our philosophy will make this concept specific to golfers. For years golf
has not been thought of as a true sport and golfers were not looked at
as athletes. With golfers like Tiger Woods, David Duval, and Gary Player
endorsing fitness for success on the course, we should take advantage
of the opportunity to increase our golf performance as well as our overall
physical health.
We now have two Level One Titleist Certified
Fitness Professionals. Check out the Titleist Performance Institue Online
at www.mytpi.com.
Program
Goals:
1. Assist golfer to achieve their goals in golf performance
2. Increase efficiency and timing of your current swing
3. Maximize your balance, strength and endurance
4. Increase overall driving distance
5. Improve accuracy and consistency of shots
6. Prevent injury and reduce fatigue
7. Allow you play golf longer (into your later years) and feel healthier while
playing
This will include:
- screening of injuries (old or new)
- measurement of strength
- test for flexibility
- assessing balance
Also included will be a physical analysis of your swing
including:
- video tape swing session
- assessment of address position
- outlining of swing plane
- difference in body position at Address vs. Impact
The evaluation will be analyzed by a therapist to set-up
an individualized treatment or training program. It will also be used
as an educational tool to set a baseline of information for re-evaluation
at a later date. The therapist and golfer will then determine goals based
on evaluation findings. Golfer and therapist will also determine a long
term training program that will include off season training and a winter
schedule of fitness.
Each
golfer will be started on an individualized training and rehabilitation
program that will address the deficits found on evaluation. The outcome
of the program will be directly related to the golfer's commitment to
golf fitness.
